Product Safety and Recall Policy

This Policy explains product-safety information, assembly and use precautions, reporting, recalls, corrective actions, and special requirements for products offered to EU consumers.

1. Merchant and Seller

This website and online store are owned and operated by Roger Stephen Hildick, an individual sole proprietor located in Illinois, United States. “The Bedroom Stor” is the storefront name used by Roger Stephen Hildick. Roger Stephen Hildick is the seller and contracting party for purchases made through the website.

2. Product-Specific Safety Information

Customers must read and follow the product page, label, packaging, manual, assembly guide, warning, care instruction, weight limit, age recommendation, electrical instruction, and recall notice supplied for the product.

Product-specific safety information takes priority over this general Policy where it is more detailed. Do not use a product if the required instructions or safety components are missing; contact us for assistance.

3. Intended Use and Weight Limits

Use each product only for its stated purpose and environment. Do not exceed a stated weight, load, occupancy, age, height, or mattress-thickness limit. Do not modify, cut, drill, overload, climb on, or use furniture in a manner not described by the manufacturer.

Household furniture must not be used commercially unless the product page expressly states that it is suitable for commercial use.

4. Assembly and Installation

Follow every assembly step in the stated order and use the specified hardware and tools. Tighten fasteners as directed and recheck them after initial use and periodically thereafter.

Large, tall, heavy, glass, mirrored, electrical, wall-mounted, bunk, loft, or multi-part products can require two adults or a qualified installer. Do not improvise missing hardware or substitute an unsuitable wall anchor.

Stop assembly if parts do not align, structural parts are damaged, holes are missing, hardware appears incorrect, or the instructions cannot be followed safely. Contact us before using the product.

5. Tip-Over and Wall Anchoring

Dressers, cabinets, bookcases, wardrobes, shelving, storage units, mirrors, and other tall or tip-prone furniture can cause serious injury or death if they fall.

  • Install supplied anti-tip restraints and wall anchors according to the instructions.

  • Use fixings suitable for the wall material; obtain qualified advice when unsure.

  • Place heavy objects in lower drawers or shelves.

  • Open only one drawer at a time unless the product is designed otherwise.

  • Do not place a television or heavy object on furniture not designed to support it.

  • Do not allow children to climb, hang, stand, or play on furniture.

  • Do not use an unanchored product when anchoring is required for safe use.

6. Children, Bunk Beds, and Small Parts

Keep plastic bags, foam, straps, sharp tools, batteries, hardware, and small parts away from children and pets. Dispose of packaging safely after checking that no parts remain inside.

For children’s beds, bunk beds, loft beds, guardrails, or products with age restrictions, follow the stated age, mattress-size, mattress-thickness, guardrail, ladder, and entrapment warnings. Never allow play, jumping, hanging, or more occupants than permitted.

7. Electrical, Lighted, Heated, and Powered Products

For mirrors, lighting, charging furniture, powered furniture, or products containing electrical components:

  • confirm that voltage, plug, driver, and installation requirements are suitable for the delivery country;

  • keep components away from water and excess moisture unless specifically rated for that environment;

  • do not use damaged cords, plugs, adapters, glass, batteries, or housings;

  • disconnect power before cleaning, adjustment, or approved maintenance; and

  • use a qualified electrician where fixed wiring or local law requires one.

Do not use an electrical product if required conformity markings, instructions, or warnings for the destination are absent.

8. Care, Inspection, and Maintenance

Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and care instructions. Avoid excessive moisture, direct heat, strong sunlight, harsh chemicals, uneven floors, or outdoor exposure unless the product is designed for those conditions.

Inspect structural joints, fasteners, anchors, cords, moving parts, glass, and support components periodically. Stop using a product that becomes unstable, cracked, frayed, loose, overheated, or otherwise unsafe.

9. Reporting a Safety Concern

If a product appears unsafe:

  1. Stop using it immediately.

  2. Keep children, other people, and pets away.

  3. Do not modify, discard, resell, donate, or ship it unless instructed.

  4. Contact info@thebedroomstor.com or +1 (618) 624-5200.

Include the order number, product name, SKU or model, serial or batch number where available, description of the risk, date and circumstances of the incident, photographs or video, and information about any injury or property damage. Seek emergency assistance first if an injury or immediate danger exists.

10. Recalls and Corrective Actions

If we learn that a product sold through the website is subject to a recall, safety warning, stop-sale, or corrective action, we will take appropriate steps, which can include:

  • stopping sale and shipment;

  • identifying affected orders and products;

  • notifying affected customers using available contact details;

  • publishing a clear safety notice;

  • instructing customers to stop use;

  • arranging repair, replacement, collection, disposal, or refund without charge where required; and

  • cooperating with the manufacturer, United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, EU Safety Gate authorities, customs authorities, or another competent regulator.

A customer must follow the recall instructions and must not sell, donate, or transfer a recalled product contrary to the notice.

11. European Union Availability Condition

A product is offered for delivery to an EU country only when its online product offer clearly and visibly displays all information required for that product before purchase, including:

  • manufacturer’s name, registered trade name or trademark, postal address, and electronic address;

  • product type, model, batch, serial number, image, or another identifier that enables identification;

  • applicable warnings and safety information in a language easily understood by consumers in the destination country; and

  • when the manufacturer is not established in the EU, the name, postal address, and electronic address of the EU-based responsible person or economic operator for that product.

The EU responsible person must be established in the European Union and have accepted the role for the specific product. The website operator’s United States address is not a substitute for an EU responsible person.

If the required manufacturer, traceability, warning, or EU responsible-person information is absent from a product page, that product is not available for EU delivery, and checkout and advertising for that product must remain disabled in EU countries until the information is complete and verified.

A general policy page does not replace product-level information required in the online offer, on the product, packaging, or accompanying documentation.

12. Safety Communications and Personal Information

We use order contact information to send a safety warning, recall, corrective-action notice, or follow-up when reasonably necessary to protect health or safety or comply with law. A customer cannot unsubscribe from a necessary product-safety notice, even after opting out of marketing.

Safety and traceability records are retained as stated in the Privacy Policy and for any longer period required by product-safety law.
